Welcome to Class Willow

Willow Class 2018-2019

Willow

We are Willow class and the adults who support our learning are Mrs Hardy, Mrs Lane and Mrs Wickens.  We have settled beautifully into year one and are enjoying our first topic ‘where we live.’  We have enjoyed creating self-portraits and hedgehog homes in art and explored different homes and houses in our topic lessons. We have loved visiting ‘forest school’ this half term where we have explored and discovered in a natural environment.

Welcome to Willow Class! We are a year 1 class and we work with Ms Roome and Mrs Child. We are keen to learn and have made a great start to the year by embracing all the activities on offer in class! We are especially enjoying this terms topic ‘There’s no-one quite like me’ and have been very excited to share our ‘special things’ with the class as well as getting to know each other a little better. We have had a very creative start to the term taking great pleasure in expressing ourselves through our Picasso-inspired self-portraits and by making our mark on International Dot Day.

Welcome to Willow Class.  We are a year 1 class and we have a new teacher
Mrs Mann and Mrs Child to help us as well.  We are a lively and energetic class and we are looking forward to learning lots of new things in Year 1.  We will all be 6 years old during this year.
At the moment we are enjoying ‘going on a bear hunt’ in our English lesson.  We have been sequencing the story with pictures and words and writing a letter to the author Michael Rosen.  Also we have learnt about all the different types of species of bear you can get around the world.  We have been doing a lot of preposition work with Mrs Mann’s bear Bill, which is helping us with our Maths lessons.
We are looking forward to starting our topic for this term called “Who do you think you are”.

Willow Class 2015-2016

May 2016

Willow class are looking forward to the summer term as most of us will be celebrating our 6th birthday, hooray!

We have enjoyed an amazing visit from Adam Guillain, the author of Socks for Santa (which our Year 1 Christmas play was based on).  We have been looking closely at his books – Spaghetti with the Yeti and Doughnuts for a Dragon and now we are writing our own adventure stories based on Adam’s style of writing.

As the seasons change from Spring to Summer, we have been planting and growing sunflowers.  We can’t wait to see who’s sunflower will grow the biggest!

Willow Class 2015-16

Welcome to Willow Class!  We are a Year 1 class with two teachers; Mrs Lane takes us for the first half of the week and Mrs Woodstock for the second half.  We also enjoy having Mrs Child working with us every morning.  We have been working very hard already and have enjoyed lots of learning with “Where the wild things are”.  In Maths we were looking at months of the year and found out that there are lots of summer birthdays, and ten of us are born in July!  This term we have begun to think about “Where we live” in our topic.

Willow Class 2014-2015

We are Willow Class! Our teachers are Miss Philipps, Mrs Easton, Mrs Hardie and Mrs Heathers.  We have Year 1 and Year 2 children and also a very special member of our class called Angel Bear, who likes to sit with us as we work hard.  We are enjoying learning about the human body in science and we like singing songs in music.

Willow Class 2011-2012

We are Willow class, a year 1 and year 2 class and we work hard and have fun with Mrs James and Mrs Easton.

Although half of us are Year 1s and half are Year 2s, there are only a few months between the youngest and the oldest in the class.  We have 2 birthday logs in our class.  One of them has been in school for more than 30 years.  When it is our birthday, we get to sit on the birthday log for the day.Mrs James and Mrs Easton think we are a very artistic class and we love to do art and to make things.  We get through a lot of discarded boxes and rolls when we do junk modelling on a Friday afternoon.  We like to think we are a family in Willow class and we try to make sure we look after each other.

May 2012

We have sown some yellow marigold seeds in pots and now most of them have germinated. Bees and butterflies like to visit these flowers. Mrs. Sisi, our lunchtime supervisor, brought in two avocado stones sitting in jars with their bottoms in water.  We hope they will produce roots and a shoot soon.  We are watching a bean grow roots and shoots.

Near the end of March, we performed at the Wycombe Swan in ‘Energise’, with 12 other local schools.  The story we performed was called ‘Old Oak’ and we were Cavaliers.  We practised hard and performed our own dance on stage and sang 12 songs with the other schools.  It was very exciting and we loved it, even though we were rather tired because it was a late night for us.  See our ‘cavalier’ pictures below our class photo.

In our topic, ‘Near and Far’ we have spent three weeks learning an African fact about children in east Africa who have very different lives from us.  We have learnt about how children sometimes have to carry water for the family to use from a very long way and that they have to help out at home and help to grow vegetables for the family.  We also have had to do a task for the day linked to our African fact, like reading a story to someone at home, helping mum or dad in a job, trying a new food at home, or learning something new about someone. We have all had a turn at hanging an African fact on our ‘tree’ or picking out the task for the day.
