We are Chestnut Class, a year 2 class and our teacher is Mrs Boyd. In Chestnut Class we also have Mrs Warden and Mrs Heathers who help us too. In our class we are all 6 years old and all of us will be 7 before too long. This term we have enjoyed getting to know each other and finding out about where we live.
We are enjoying learning and growing together with our teachers. Our topic this term is ‘Around the World in 80 Days’. So far we have loved finding out about Mr Fogg’s first adventure to Egypt and we learnt how mummies were made. We are excited to continue his journey to find out where he went next.

We are Chestnut Class and we are now some of the oldest children in the school.  Our teacher is Mrs Boyd and we also have Mrs Warden, Mrs Dymott and Mrs Webb who help us learn.
This half term our topic is ‘No One Quite Like Me’ and we have found out about what makes us and our teachers unique.  Chestnut Class have found that we have a lot of similarities too; we all love chocolate!
Our class especially enjoys art lessons and we have some very creative ideas.  On Dot day, we made one dot into interesting pictures like a wrecking ball, an alien or a flower.  They are all hanging proudly in our classroom.

Chestnut Class 2015-2016

May 2016

This half term we have enjoyed our topic on Space and the Planets.  We have loved the race to space challenge and it has helped us learn a lot of facts.  One way we found out more was listening to Tim Peake on the ISS.  We loved it when he touched his toes and it made him spin in circles.  It did not happen when we tried !!

Now we are heading into the middle of Spring and onto Summer, we are having fun in our P.E. lessons outside learning netball skills.  It wont be long until we can challenge Larch Class to a match.

In Chestnut Class we have really enjoyed our ‘Where We Live’ topic, where we have found out what makes our local area special. As a class, we went for a walk around Hazlemere spotting things in common, like lots of the roads are named after trees. If you want to know then come and ask us why!!! We are very excited about our trip to the woods where we are going to find out about animals habitats as well as the bogers who used to live in there many years ago.

Chestnut Class 2012-2013

We are Chestnut class, a year 2 class and we work hard and have fun with Miss Harding and Mrs Jones. In our class most of us are 7 years old and all of us will be 7 before too long.

We are enjoying learning and growing together with our teachers. Our topic this term is Toys and we have been exploring toys from different periods of time. Miss Harding showed us a toy book she made when she was 6 year olds and also letters from her Granddad and parents explaining the different toys they played with when they were younger. This inspired us to write a letter to an older member of our family. We are waiting with a lot of anticipation for the responses.

Chestnut class have also become toy designers and we have designed and made our own hand puppets. Sewing the pieces together was a tricky job but they look brilliant now they are finished.

We all love being in Chestnut class. It’s brilliant!

May 2012

Hi! It’s Chestnut class again.

We would like to introduce you to a new member of our class. His name is Herman and he is German (he is actually a cake!). Herman arrived in our class in a Tupperware container and looked like a pancake batter mixture. Every day we had to do something to him, like stir him or feed him more ingredients. Because Herman has yeast in him, we noticed he had grown every morning and was starting to bubble and brew. We followed the instructions for 10 days and then on Friday we added raisins and apples and more ingredients and baked him in the oven. Finally we ate Herman and he disappeared very quickly. Boo hoo! But he was delicious!

Here are photos of Herman before cooking and afterwards.
