Welcome to Class Beech

Beech Class 2018-2019

Beech

Beech class have had a great first half term in Year 1.  They have settled back into school life well and have learnt new routines quickly.  They have enjoyed learning about each other, particularly where they live and what sort of home they live in.  This half term, we will be exploring the new topic ‘Around the World in 80 days’, starting off with Africa.  The children have enjoyed thinking about how the weather is different and what animals live there.  Next stop, India and Australia.

We are Beech Class.  In our class Miss Fry is the teacher and Mrs Wickens and Mrs Webb help us with our fun activities.
We have been enjoying exploring our new classroom and have particularly enjoyed our English lessons where we have been learning about ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’.  We are also excited to be writing our own versions of the story.

Beech Class 2015-2016

May 2016

This half term we have been lucky enough to have the author Adam Guillain come in to visit our school.  We thoroughly enjoyed the session we had with him and were so inspired by his story telling.  We have really enjoyed looking at his books and style of writing which led us to compare ‘Doughnuts for a Dragon’ and ‘Spaghetti with the Yeti’.  We decided which was our favourite story, gave reasons why and wrote great book reviews.  Beech class’s next adventure will be writing our own imaginative stories based on the character of George.

Beech Class 2015-16

We are Beech Class.  We are an energetic and friendly class who are enjoying exploring the new surroundings in Year 1. We have particularly enjoyed our Maths lessons and like being set new and exciting challenges.  This half term in English we have been thinking about using describing words to make our sentences even more exciting and learning where to place commas.  Throughout our topic ‘Where we Live’ we have been looking at the different materials that we need to build our houses, making collages of our houses in the style of Paul Klee and exploring the local environment.

Beech Class 2014-2015

Mrs Tanner is our teacher and she gets lots of help from Mrs Child.  We are looking forward to the year ahead and finding out so much about ourselves.  We already know that being polite, kind and caring matters and that we sometimes have to be patient with our friends.  We enjoy all the activities our teachers put together and especially like learning outside.  We have already begun to work really hard and try our best even when its tricky.  Mrs Tanner gives us house points and she has a special treasure chest with prizes inside that we can have if we are extra, extra good.

Beech Class 2012-2013

We are Class Beech and we are the youngest year one class. We are learning about toys this half term and have had great fun drawing and labelling our own toys. We have enjoyed finding out about toys that children used to like to play with a very long time ago. We have made a wooden spoon doll which was great fun. We are going to learn more about our topic when we visit the museum in Aylesbury.

Beech Class 2011-2012

We are Beech class, a year 1 class and we work hard and have fun with Mrs Stewart,  Mrs Heathers and Mrs Coppins.

We have a new super writing area where we can really enjoy writing independently and displaying our work on the white board for all to see. We are working very hard on our writing and each half term we make a class book. We are becoming ‘super authors.’

At Christmas we put on a wonderful Christmas play with Spruce class called ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman.’ It was great fun!

We have just had activity week which was all about ‘Water.’ We made jelly, bubble prints, boats, pop-up pictures and much more!

May 2012

In our class we are learning about growing plants. We have planted some sunflower seeds and we have been watching them grow. We have been giving them plenty of water and they have grown very tall. Soon we are going to take them home and plant them in our gardens.

We have also painted some sunflower pictures like Vincent van Gogh. We had to look very carefully to make sure that we painted them as close as we could to the picture.

We are having fun learning about the Manor Farm estate and the Isle of Coll. We are finding out things that are the same about the two places and the things that are different about them.

In Literacy we have been writing instructions. One day we made some banana sandwiches and afterwards we wrote about how to make them. We enjoyed eating them, they tasted yummy!
